Wrexham's Prayer Week 2012

Mission Wrexham and Wrecsam Cytûn have agreed to support local churches involvement in a Week of Prayer 27th May - 3rd June 2012. This will be centred at Wrexham Methodist Church which will become a base for united prayer. Our initial thinking is that we should explore the following:

  • as Prayer Week will coincide with the OLYMPIC TORCH visiting Wrexham on its journey round the UK, we should consider a prayer focus centred on these verses from Hebrews 12:

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

  • the international sporting celebration reminds us of the worldwide community. It is a community disfigured by the tragedy of human trafficking. We wish to understand how during the week it might be we are to learn, to listen, to intercede together and find if there are things we are called to do together.
  • if and how the week might have a 24/7 dimension, and involve as many Borough congregations as possible.

An invitation is extended to friends from all churches in the Borough to be involved in these explorations and the planning for the week.

A series of planning meetings will be arranged between January & May 2012. If you would like to learn more about what is involved you are invited to an introductory meeting to be held at Gair y Gwynt (YWAM house), on Thursday 5th January at 7.30pm. YWAM House is the base of Youth with a Mission in Wrexham, and is to be found at 25 Hightown Road, Wrexham LL13 8EB (on the corner of Hightown Road and Benjamin Road, opposite the end of Caia Road).

Could you please make this invitation known within your congregation. Thank you.
